SAINT MARTIN'S TOAST – Saint Claire's Wine Shop

The feast of St. Martin is not just a harbinger of winter but also a celebration of Saint Martin's wine! While we can’t guarantee snowfall, we can promise five carefully selected young wines. The St. Klára's Wine Shop will be open from 10.00 a.m., giving you the perfect chance to enjoy a glass before noon. Come taste our 2023 wines, along with a special selection of St. Martin's wines from Vinařství Mádl (Mádl Winery) 2024, and together, we’ll discover how they’ve turned out. Don't miss the vineyard adorned in its beautiful autumn colors!

AND WHICH YOUNG WINES WILL WE BE TOASTING WITH?

We carefully selected a more intimate range from last year’s vintage, and our permanent offering of house wines will soon be expanded with five varieties approved for the production of St. Martin's wine. These new wines from Vinařství Mádl will be ceremoniously opened on November 11 at 11:00 a.m., following tradition. For the true enthusiasts, we’ll be open from 10:00 a.m., ready to pour early tastings. Our sommelier Jakub will also be in the wine shop, happy to chat with you about the wines.

  • Martin's Veltliner Red Early 2024
  • Martin's Müller Thurgau 2024
  • Martin's Zweigelt Rosé 2024
  • Martin's Blauer Portugieser 2024
  • Martin's Moravian muscat 2024

St. Martin's wines mark the debut of the new vintage. These fresh and fruity wines have already developed their unique character despite aging for a brief period of a few weeks. Winemakers recommend enjoying these young wines until Easter when they preserve their delightful freshness.

Typically, the freshness and zest of young wines complement fattier dishes. The traditional St. Martin's Day feast often includes roasted goose, red cabbage, and potato dumplings. Yet, there are numerous other choices to explore. Even among young wines, there are substantial variations. You might opt for a cheese quiche with bacon to complement one, and St. Martin's rolls filled with walnuts to complement another. Combine, experiment, savor - pairing wine and dishes is about enjoyment, not a weighty life choice.
