Now we have the opportunity to rely on the views of one of the leading European ornithologists - Prof. Dr. Peter Berthold, a long-time researcher at the German ornithological station Vogelwarte Radolfzell, author of a number of scientific papers on bird migration and their ecology:
"On the basis of numerous scientific studies, it has been proven that feeding, especially of our songbirds, is more necessary than ever before and that it can - if done correctly - significantly help to maintain or restore our birdlife and thus make a significant contribution to bird conservation."
It is on display in the Ornamental Garden (in the Outdoor expositions) from 20 January to 26 March 2023.
Panels present the latest findings in year-round feeding of birds in our gardens. You will learn what to feed the birds in our landscape and see the basic types of feeders and suitable watering places, which are important not only on hot summer days.
Should we feed only in winter?
What if a mild winter comes?
Should we feed all year round?
What to feed?
All these questions are answered in our Outdoor expositions. You will also get advice on which trees to grow in your garden so that birds can find food there and you will be introduced to bird species that winter in Asia.
The exhibition was made possible thanks to the financial support of Forestina.
