BUTTERFLIES, The Magic of Metamorphosis | Exhibition in the Fata Morgana Greenhouse

Visit us and discover the differences and exciting facts about the developmental stages of butterflies. The transformation: of egg - caterpillar - chrysalis – butterfly, differs for each species. Sometimes, the caterpillar or chrysalis is even more beautiful than the butterfly itself.

A new butterfly model will be displayed at the exhibition – the butterfly developmental model. You will see the size differences - from miniature eggs and giant caterpillars to a butterfly with a huge wingspan.

As in previous years, we will import the pupae from a butterfly farm in Stratford-upon-Avon, where we have a guarantee of quality species. Over five thousand specimens will be on display during the show.

ON MONDAY MAY 8 THE FATA MORGAN GREENHOUSE WILL BE EXCEPTIONALLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

When and where

The exhibition takes place in the Fata Morgana Greenhouse from 7 April to 21 May 2023.

Opening hours of the greenhouse:
TUE – SUN (including holidays) 9 am - 7 pm, MONDAYS CLOSED
THE FATA MORGANA GREENHOUSE WILL BE EXCEPTIONALLY OPEN DURING THE HOLIDAYS ON MONDAYS (10 APRIL, 1 MAY, AND 8 MAY).

!!! WE RECOMMEND PLANNING YOUR VISIT ALSO ON WEEKDAYS (EXCEPT MONDAYS) !!! 

!!! DUE TO THE HIGH INTEREST IN THE EXHIBITION DURING THE WEEKENDS, PLEASE EXPECT POSSIBLE QUEUING DELAYS TO ENTER THE GREENHOUSE !!!

Admission

Tickets to the exhibition correspond with the standard admission price to our garden:

*Bag and photo backpack can be left in the cloakroom free of charge.

 Dogs are NOT allowed at the Fata Morgana Greenhouse.

How to get to us

Bus:

1. 112 from Nádraží Holešovice (metro line C station) to either Kovárna or Zoo Praha - Troja bus stops.
2. 112 from Podhoří (ferry) bus stop to Zoo Praha - Troja bus stop.
3. 234 from Nádraží Holešovice (metro line C station) to either Zoo Praha - Troja or Botanická Zahrada Troja bus stops.

By car:

You can park your car in the parking lot of our garden located at the main entrance from Bohnice, i.e., in the northern part of the garden. Access from K Pazderkám street.

Parking at the Fata Morgana Greenhouse is only possible for people with special needs (with valid certification), see the information above. Our garden does not have any private parking for visitors in this part, so it is necessary to use our parking lot in the northern part of the area near the main entrance from Bohnice, access from K Pazderkám Street. Or you can also use the paid parking lot of the Zoological Garden.
