Bonsai and Japanese Culture Festival

10 June to 19 June 2022
 
Come and enjoy the craft of Bonsai - a piece which is is never "finished" as it changes through the seasons and gains beauty as the years pass.
This year's exhibition will show the best of bonsai growers from the Czech Republic and other European countries. You can look forward to see local species, interesting exotic species and more than a hundred-year-old trees from our collections.
A rich accompanying programme will introduce both the Asian art of tree shaping and Japanese cultural traditions. You will have a unique oppportunity to buy bonsai trees and other plants.

HOW TO GET TO US
Bus no. 112 from Nádraží Holešovice (metro line C station) to either Kovárna or Zoologická zahrada bus stops.
For parking you can use our parking lot - access from K Pazderkám street (100 CZK/day) or the parking lot of the Prague’s Zoo (200 CZK/day).

PROGRAMME OF THE FESTIVAL

We have prepared a really exciting programme for the bonsai exhibition. It will take place on the weekend of 11 to 12 June, in the week of 13 to 17 June and then on the weekend 18 to 19 June.
The programme is subject to change.
 

Sathurday, 11 June 

11:30am–12:00pm V. Matoušek: shakuhachi flute (listen to the Japanese bamboo flute)
12:00pm–12:30pm Bujinkan Prague: Ninjutsu (traditional martial art of NINJUTSU)
12:30pm–3:30pm Libor Slatinka: demonstration of bonsai shaping
1:30pm–2:00pm Ajna Kenning: geisha dance in Nihon bujo style of the Nishikawa school
2:30pm–3:00pm Tenshin dōjō: jōdō (the art of the traditional school Shintō musō ryū jō of wielding the short staff "jō")
3:30pm–3:45pm Ajna Kenning: geisha dance in Nihon bujo style of the Nishikawa school
4:30pm–5:00pm Kenshōkan dōjō: battōjutsu/iaidō (traditional martial arts of the JAPANESE SWORD)

Tickets correspond with the standard price list for admission to the Prague Botanical Garden.
